S.A.G.E – Support, Advice, Guidance, Employment. This is a pivotal part of
South Wales’ programme. It includes the initial interview and assessment, CV
counselling and interview guidance and preparation and advice on other
related skills. Assistance with completion of job applications, on-going
confidence building, motivation and support is also included. SAGE is
designed to promote self-help in the individual in their search for
employment.
Interview Practice – An exercise intended to maximise the likelihood of the
client being successful in their application. The team member will create
mock interview situations with the client. The results of these are
carefully monitored to ensure that the client’s potential is maximised in a
real interview situation.
Disability in Business – a continuous schedule of awareness-raising visits
to the business sector involving the dissemination of information (via
discussion and literature), best-practice and practical help. Employment
Opportunities South East Wales also undertakes presentation to larger groups
to clarify the requirements under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.
Ongoing relationships are often forged resulting in jobs or placements for
clients as well as long term support and advice to employers on disability
issues.
Job-Match – a service searching out promising job vacancies from a number of
sources and matching them with appropriate clients. Once the client has been
matched with a particular vacancy a Personal Development Plan will be
initiated, intended to be led by the client, supported by the Employment
Opportunities team member, and aimed at getting the specific job.
We make a point of spending time talking to employers to identify their
specific requirements and the nature of the jobs, the work place and the
working conditions.
Time is also spent with our disabled clients, ensuring we know them, their
backgrounds, experience, abilities etc. Thus we are able to match people,
with disabilities to jobs as accurately as possible. The organisation,
although entirely dependent, relies on industry for its offices, equipment
and running cost; financial help is also received from local authorities and
charitable trusts.
Directors and their staff, experienced in many fields, staff our offices
around the country working closely with local business.
HOW CAN WE HELP YOU?
If you are disabled and looking for a job, or know someone who is,
Employment Opportunities would be pleased to help.
